Today we completed our weekly timed BCR.
AIM: I will write one BCR based on an in-class reading.
Standard: 7.W-E.3 Writing an essay that frames a question, groups ideas logically and includes details from the source.
Do Now:
1) Vocabulary Term: “Farmers created extra or more than is necessary” 2) Vocabulary Term: “Farmers moved or carried water to a dryer land.”
3) Vocabulary Term: “land that is good for plants to grow in.”
4) Vocabulary Term: “the cultivation or growing of plants.”
Lesson Steps: Once we finished our Do Now we looked over a chart that compared standardized test scores for all middle schools in Washington, DC. We did this as a reminder as to why we were putting so much emphasis on writing effective BCRs. We then spent the remainder of the class period writing our in-class BCR. Students who finished early were able to start homework or have free time.
