The First Communities

Today we finalized our last reading of the advisory and learned new vocabulary.

AIM: I will learn 6 new vocabulary words and explain how farming impacted village life.

Standard: 7.2 Describe how the development of agriculture relates to village settlement.

Do Now:
1) Vocabulary term: “To argue against or to deny”
2) Vocabulary term: “Many different things or diverse”
3) Vocabulary term: This is a word from yesterday that means “extra”
4) How many years ago was 145 CE?

Lesson Steps: Once we finished the Do Now we went right into preparing to re-read the passage on how farming helped with the establishment of village life. We then learned a new dance about terraced farming! Finally, we talked about the importance of farmers and got started on our homework assignment in which we had to thank a farmer for 6 different things. Students then completed a vocabulary translation page as an exit ticket.

Homework: Complete the "Thank You Farmer Activity"
