Indian Mental Map

Today we learned how to draw the mental map of India.

AIM: I will draw a mental map of India and locate 9 physical features with 100% accuracy.

Standard: Geography of India

Do Now:
1) Vocabulary word: Ingredients used to make things.
2) Vocabulary word: triangle shaped fertile land at the mouth of a river.
3) Vocabulary word: another word for a waterfall.
4) How many years ago was 356 CE?

Lesson Steps:
Today was a shortened class period due to the early dismissal so we only had time to complete our Do Nows and then draw the mental map of India once.

Homework: Complete two additional mental maps of India

India Introduction

Today we started our unit on India.

AIM: I will develop 3 inferences about India and find the purpose of a paragraph.

Standard: Geography of India

Do Now:
1) Vocabulary Term: Parts that make up something.
2) Vocabulary term: A long period without rain.
3) Vocabulary term: To mix with a lot of energy.
4) How many years ago was 1,999 BCE?

Lesson Steps: Once we finished the Do Now we jumped right into learning about India by reading a letter in Daro's file. He seemed to be needing some more attention because we had been looking only at Gilgamesh and Hatshepsut for so long. So we did a preview activity about India and then started to read about the geography of India.

Exam Review for the 3rd Advisory

Today we finished the presentations and then went over the exam from Monday.

AIM: I will understand 100% of the questions that I missed on the exam.

Do Now:
1) Vocabulary Term: To bring together, to make one.
2) Vocabulary Term: Hot and Dry
3) Vocabulary term: Fertile Soil dropped by a river
4) How many years ago was 491 BCE?

Lesson Steps: Today we had all presenters go and it was great to see all the hard work put into action. Our students are really becoming quite accomplished actors! We then went over all exam questions. Make sure you ask to see your son or daughter's exam.

Presentation Day

Today students presented their House Hunters Show on Mesopotamia and Egypt.

AIM: I will perform my presentation on Mesopotamia and Egypt with 100% accuracy by completing all steps on the guideline sheet.

Standard: Geography, adaptation and settlement patterns of Egypt and Mesopotamia.

Do Now:
1) Vocabulary word: Around the time
2) Vocabulary word: Easy to get
3) Vocabulary word: Movement of water in one direction
4) How many years ago was 1,435 BCE?

Lesson Steps:
Once we finished our Do Now students practiced their skits for 10 minutes before our final presentations. Students then performed some AMAZING skits that incorporated all the geographical aspects of Mesopotamia and Egypt that we have been studying. They acted like real estate agents and buyers in trying to determine the best place to live. They were great to see and some of them were filmed too!

Homework: Complete all missing work by tomorrow.
