Today we reviewed the Big Bang Theory and the Continental Drift Theory and then we prepared for the Ice Age reading.
AIM: I will define and explain the importance of the Ice Age and and list two legacies of it today.
Standard: 7.1.1 Follow the great changes of the Earth that led to the start of human life.
Lesson Steps:
We broke into groups and students categorized words according to the two theories we have been studying. Each group had to decide whether a vocabulary word connected to the Big Bang Theory or the Theory of Continental Drift.
Once students successfully finished this categorizing activity they had to put another deck of cards in chronological order. These cards traced the formation of our world from the Big Bang to our current formation with seven continents. Students then copied these cards onto paper as a way of taking notes that they will keep for future studying.
We then reviewed the song and started to go over the vocabulary words for the Ice Age reading.
Homework: Complete the definitions for the 5 words at the beginning of the Ice Age handout.
Ice Age Handout.
