Big Bang Review

Today we followed yesterday's lesson by completing the readings and reviewing the key concepts.

AIM: I will define and explain the "Big Bang" theory and list two modern legacies of it.

Standard: 7.1.1 Follow the great changes that formed Earth and allowed human life to start.

Lesson Steps:
Today we continued yesterday's lesson by going over the homework and reading the two excerpted articles. Students acted out the universe's gravitational force by pairing up and spinning and also by swinging a bucket of water around to mimic centrifugal force.

We discussed the starting of the Large Hadron Collider in Europe and how scientists may be able to recreate the 'Big Bang' by smashing protons into each other. We will follow this story as it progresses.

Finally, we discussed the concept of cause and effect and looked at the homework assignment for tonight.

Homework: Complete the cause and effect box at the bottom of yesterday's handout. You should pick one cause/effect relationship from the articles or the cartoon to place in the boxes.
