Today we continued learning each other's names while students continued to share items from their lives.
AIM: I will identify all of my classmates with 100% accuracy.
Lesson Steps
We continued to practice our Do Now procedures and then created equity sticks so that we can increase student participation. Each student wrote their name on a Popsicle stick and Mr. Magnuson will pull these sticks out of a cup to choose students to call on during certain class discussions.
We called up 4 students to share their index card facts about themselves. This assignment was from Monday in which all students were assigned to bring in a picture of something important to them and affix it to an index card. These cards help us to learn more about each other and we will use these cards later for vocabulary card connections.
We then took a practice quiz on everyone's names and determined how many students were fully prepared for the upcoming quiz. Many students showed that they were ready.
We continued to play "Globes in the Air" and we continued to learn the names of everyone but we also reflected on how the game helped us begin to work together. We discussed the importance building a community and the need to cooperate.
Finally, we practiced dismissal procedures.
Homework: Continue to study for the upcoming name quiz using the pretest seating chart.
