Inaugural Reflections

Today we started class with a reflection on what each student did over the inauguration and also a current events activity to watch what happens during Obama's first day in office.

AIM: I will reflect on the inauguration and make my own plan for change to share with my parents.

Do Now: Students walked into class and picked up the handout. The first reflection was the Do Now.

Lesson Steps: We shared our stories about the inaugural weekend. Then we moved into dissecting the phrase "The Change we Need" and we talked about what has been going on in the country and what needs to be changed. We then reflected on our first 100 days as 7th grade students and the changes that students needed to make as they look forward to the next 100 days of school. We then went over the assignment for the evening and were dismissed.

Homework: Students are to follow the actions of Obama for his first day in office. What did he do? Then, students are to focus on one thing that they would like to change about the world, the neighborhood or even themselves and to make a plan with their parents to help to make it happen.
