Test Continued and New Vocabulary

Today we finished our CSA test and then went into a lesson on more vocabulary.

AIM: I will define 16 new vocabulary terms and determine text structure of one reading with 100% accuracy.

Standard: Identifying text structure and understanding the geography of Mesopotamia.

Do Now:
1) Vocabulary term: silt that is good for farming.
2) Vocabulary term: To be specific or to “beat someone over the head.”
3) Vocabulary term: The growth of beginning of something.
4) How many years ago was 505 BCE?

Lesson Steps:
We started with taking the rest of the Core Standards Assessment and it took a lot longer than we thought it would. Most students finished the test in class. Once students finished this test they were given a paper with 16 new vocabulary words. Students then looked up the definitions in the textbook in preparation for the reading. This took the remainder of the period. We will continue working on understanding the text structure of this reading tomorrow.

Homework:
Choose 10 new vocabulary words and write sentences in which you use them correctly. You can earn extra credit if you write a short story and use 10 new vocabulary words.
